At Sartoria Trenti, a simple three step process allows Francesco to tailor your garment to fit you, your movements, and your lifestyle.
The first visit marks the start of an exciting journey. Francesco will spend time getting to know you and discuss how tailoring can fit into your lifestyle. Su misura extends beyond the garment: we would like to ensure that your garments is tailored to your life. During this stage, we will also work with you to pick out all the details, from the design to the fabric, and everything in between. Finally, we will create a personalized profile of your measurements.
Francesco drafts your personal pattern and design by hand at the sartoria.
This pattern is used to produce a test garment from a toile cloth.
Fitting No. 1: Baste Fitting
Ten days after our first meeting, we get to see how the test garment performs on you. We assess the fit and shape, and we ask you to evaluate the ease and comfort. The baste fitting stage also allows us to see how the garment drapes on you, and how you would interact with it. Perfecting the fit on you, and not on a few numbers, produces a garment that has incredible balance between shape and versatility. More importantly, nothing is set in stone still at this stage - we would like to know any changes you would desire after seeing a partially realized garment.
The test garment, adjusted during your baste fitting, is taken apart and used to re-draw your pattern.
Your pattern is then transferred onto your fabric, alongside some internal material.
Another draft garment is produced, this time with the actual fabric.
Fitting No. 2: Forward Fitting
At the forward fitting, more details are realized for your creation. The garment is progressed to just before the inner lining and buttons are attached. Important issues like buttoning points are tested, demonstrated, and discussed. We chat about what else we need to improve before finishing up the jacket, or any other changes you would like to make.
The garment is finished meticulously according to your specification.
At Sartoria Trenti, presenting you with your finished creation is the moment we most enjoy. After six weeks of working together, we delight you with the joy of a new garment that is unique to you. These occasions are why we created Sartoria Trenti.
The journey continues. Get to know your new garment at your leisure.
We take aftercare seriously. Francesco's teacher has always emphasized that a garment is at its best after it is worn in. We provide three months of free alteration, from the date of delivery, so that you can come back and make any changes.
After that, we always prefer to take care of your garment for the rest of its life, from refreshing and repressing your garment, to doing alterations to update its relevance.
A bespoke creation is a creation for life.
